MIGHTY MINI!
There have been loads of tasty motors here this week, some of them are still here... but there is only really one contender for car of the week... This car is (mostly) a 1980s Mini City and was Lauren's first car, it has undergone several face-lifts and other beauty treatments since then, most recenly having a complete respray. As you can see from the large sticker on the door, Lauren and co-driver Kel are entering it in the 2006 Italian Job Rally. Lauren approached us several weeks ago and asked us if we could sponsor her to get her wheels refurbished. Well, I thought about it for all of a fraction of a second and got organizing stuff. Things all turned out rather rushed in the end, but on Saturday night the wheels were finally done and we started valeting. It wasn't much of a job because the wheels were freshly painted, as was the bodywork, and it had nice new red carpets and new bucket seats. But still, the web stig suffers with his poor old back from sitting infront of the computer most of the time, and so climbing in and out of the back of a mini is a bit of a problem, so Lauren and Kel helped out - it's not often our patrons valet their own cars here, but stranger things have happened (especially in the broom cupboard). Supagard were kind enough to donate a full sealant package with all the extras. we applied the paint sealant to the paintwork, applied Supawheels to the freshly refurbished alloys, and coated the fabrics with the interior protector, and Lauren had a nice sports bag full of goodies to take away with her. Next we polished up the chrome and metalwear - I say 'we', actually Lauren et al did most of the metalwork and windows as I was encouraging them to try out some of the products we have here (A cleaver ruse to get them to do all the work while stood around drinking tea). They used a special metal protector that we are trying out, and which i hope to be able to reveal the identity of once they return from Italy. What we did then was to treat the windows with a rain repellant on the outside and an anti-misting agent on the outside. We found some overspray on some of the windows -- Lauren had already spent many hours getting overspray off the windows with a razorblade before she brought the car to us... so I decided to let her have a go with our of our purple heavy duty clay bars. I think she was amazed, but unfortunately I forgot to tell her to wet her hands before using it. What happened next was rather like a scene from The Blob... which stared Steve McQueen... who was a big fan of Minis! I shall do a full write-up when the car gets back from
