4. Where to advertise

   There are many places to advertise your car, the best ones for you will depend on the kind of car you are selling. Top-end, sports, collectable and prestige cars can be sold in the Sunday news papers such as The Times, enthusiasts' magazines or in publications like Top Marques.
But most cars can be advertised in the local papers such as the Recorder, the Essex Chronicle, Auto Trader, and Exchange & Mart.
It's also worth looking into advertising on the Internet. Many of the classified publications now have web sites, which at the very least are a worthwhile resource for getting a feel for how much your car is worth.
We have recently discovered that buying and selling online is a great way to do things, we would especially recommend looking at AutoTrader and Justcars online.

   You could also try putting a card in shop windows, but we would not recommend putting a 'For Sale' sign in your car and leaving it by the side of the road, as this often seems to attract unwanted attention from time wasters, con-artists and vandals.

UPDATE: Once you have advertized with a reputable company there is a fair chance you will be contacted by disreputable companies promising that that they have people waiting to buy your car, and that they guarantee to sell your car within 7 days... all for only £95. They have very slick salesmen and you will be left amazed how easily they made an utter fool of you.
Before handing over any money check out companies with websites like Blagger.com - because if they can lie about having buyers lined up, they can lie about money back guarantees and cool-off periods. You will never see your money again!
