Independent Pre-Return Lease Inspection
Calling your lease company's Helpline at the
beginning is definitely the best thing you can do.

Find out what they will charge you for and how much so that you can make informed decisions about repairs. By-and-large they are very happy to hear from you and will be willing to cooperate fully without knowing your customer details.
Most are willing to tell you what they will charge for scratches, dents, or the cost of a panel or the refurbishment of wheels. So you can compare, and make informed choices. Most will advise you that you are better off having the work done before returning he car, and that to ensure that the repairs must be properly carried out to an acceptable standard (Poor repairs are unacceptable and usually incur a chargeback for the cost of the whole panel).
Many people think that by phoning the lease company, they will be letting them know about damage they wouldn't otherwise notice. Apart from the fact that your customer care helpline is a completely different department to the billing department, the inspectors do notice everything. If you noticed it, if we noticed it, you can bet that they will notice it too. If you give them all your details and tell them exactly what the damage is, it won't make any difference.

"Hello guys
Just wanted to feedback as I couldn't take your call while I was abroad.
I didn't get charged a penny for any damage on the car although they
did try and sting me for £3800 for returning the car a year early.
This was their clerical error and soon sorted though!
Many thanks for a job well done."
