Day 5 - 31^st October

We only spent the one night in Lake Stresa and on day 5 it was time to make our way to Turino. We were still holding on to our 13th place position in the Navigational Rally making sure we crossed all our check points on time.

CHECK POINT 1 STRESA PIAZZA MARCONI

Our first check point of day 5 was only 5mins down the road from the hotel Regina Palace. Its was the Piazza in Stresa, this was where we would all meet up, take in some quick views of the lake and start the 3hour 96mile drive to Torino.

CHECK POINT 2 TORINO PIAZZA S.CARLO

We had a good drive down to Torino, we were the very first mini to arrive in the Piazza followed shortly by Chris and Tony in their John Cooper Works mini.

Whilst in the piazza we drew a lot of attention to ourselves, but not as much attention as when we drove out of the piazza through Turino to our 3rd hotel of the trip, the Torino Lingotto. We had a police escort all the way to the hotel which was fantastic, we were told to make as much noise with our horns as possible and the Italians loved it -- but not as much as we did…

The Le Meridien Lingotto hotel was once the former fiat Factory and is now a 5* hotel, and also a shopping centre all in one, that’s my idea of a hotel. Once we arrived by police escort to the hotel we got the chance to drive on the former Fiat test ring on the hotel roof…

This was a fantastic experience the highlight of the trip.
