Situated in the village of Chignall Smealy to the north-west of Chelmsford, the Pig & Whistle is a new addition to the Shepherd Neame estate.

A lovely country pub with an excellent a la carte restaurant serving delicious home cooked meals.Comfortable bars and children's play area.

Many attractive walks nearby.

• Home cooked meals under £10 with £9.99 T-Bone steaks on weekends

• Opening hours: Mon-Sat 12:00pm-11:30pm, Sun 12:00pm-10:00pm

An adorable little traditional pub with antique styled split log interior cosied up a little with tartan drapes, two fireplaces, an assortment of paintings and bits and pieces, with a ceiling full of hanging dried hops. I loved it.”
