New Writtle Street is accessed off New London Road if you're coming by car. If you're walking I'd recommend catching the bus, there is a stop just before the New Writtle entrance, or you could get a taxi. The entrance to the grounds themselves is a bit hard to find. I ended up getting lost wandering through a residential complex following the boss's orders. Lesson 1. always ask for directions from people AROUND THE AREA first and not on the other side of the town. The grounds are fairly uncomplicated and spacious though, consisting mainly of a ring of walkways around the field. Being Austrailian I do realize that cricket is an obsession for some people, and watching a game on a summer day is some people's idea of heaven... this is the place to do it!

Comments: The place was deserted at the time I went there so I took full advantage of the situation and let myself into almost every unlocked door I came across. It was very paparazzi. Would have been a lot more fun if they weren't in the middle of reconstructions though and the rooms had had things in them. Or if I'd had some guards shouting "Hey you, what are you doing here! Stop!" to dodge and leap over fences to escape. I did consider leaping over a fence for the sake of it, but without the chase or people to sneak around it was kind of pointless really. This place is probably much more entertaining during the sumer.
