VW Beetle mould & leak clean-up
Decontamination after a leaky windscreen and clean-up of mould.

Gary:
Right, so what we doing here then Aron?
Aron:
This customer had a leaky windscreen, it wasn't fitted right so it was leaking water into the car, so it's come through all the seals, it's filled up the two front footwells and the rear one as well. So it's a job to get the carpet up, this underlay under here and the top carpet -- the underlay absolutely soaking wet. You can see it on my fingers.
Gary:
So the car has been steaming up? I can smell it as well.
Aron:
Yeah, it's got mould growing down here.
Gary:
Mould as well, so that's not doing any good.
Aron:
So what we're going to do is do it all, de-mould the car with products, then dry it out and put it back together. And they had a windscreen fitted about two days ago, a new one, so....
Gary:
That's all be sorted out. Great, we'll have a look a little bit further down the line then.
***
Gary:
Your Cleaning the seats, this is the rear seat isn't it?
Aron:
The rear seat yes.
Gary:
So why are you cleaning that?
Aran:
Because it had mould growing on it, you can see it has a bit around here if you look.
Gary:
Oh I see, so the fact that it was dirty... not filthy, but a bit dirty...
Aron:
Yeah, it's got damp and that's made a bit of mould.
Gary:
So the moral of the story is that if you have a lot of water getting in your car, you have to get it otherwise it causes problems elsewhere. We've seen it on on seatbelts and things before haven't we, mould?
Aron:
Yep.
Gary:
The seatbelts just get grubby and the mould grows on that.
Great, I'll look inside the car now, blimey! Thee seats are out and the carpet is up, and there's a big blower in there blowing it dry.
***
Gary:
So it's had the blower on it for the last two evenings. How are we getting on Aron? Just putting it back together?
Aron:
Yeah.
Gary:
So why would you take the side panels off then?
Aron:
To get the carpet out.
Gary:
I see, it holds it in. so it's all dry around there, that's the main thing. No mould?
Aron:
No mould, no. I sprayed the stuff over it.
Gary:
Gave it another coat? Okay, great. So the lady will be pleased with that won't she?
Aron:
Yeah.
***
Gary:
There it all is completely dry, the seats back in, no mould, nice in there, smells fine, lovely, ready to go.

A leaky windscreen let in a load of water, flooding both footwells. The damp had caused mould to grow on traces of dirt throughout the car.
