The power of steam... and elbow grease

We used a number of techniques to soften and remove the paint. Firstly we covered many of the effected areas with wet towels which had been soaked in soapy water for several days. This can soften the paint on carpets and plastic but not a good idea for the leather .

.

Next we used a steam machine to remove the paint from the leather. Emulsion paint is essentially a kind of plastic, so heat will soften it making it easier to remove.


Once the paint has been softened, it can be peeled off, scrubbed off with brushes, or as in the photo above, picked of using dentists tools. This is a painfully slow process at times.
