Unity Club |
I got an e-mail from Stephen Read asking if Clean Image would donate a prize for the Unity Club Sponsored Abseil -- I immediately e-mailed back volunteering to do the 110ft abseil, I also volunteered all the Clean Image staff! I admit that I have done a few Abseils before and I love it, so this was no big deal for me (Although my wife of 3 weeks was convinced she was about to become a widow). However for the rest of the Clean Image staff, as the big day approached, they grew more and more concerned - on the day, Gary was quite pale standing on top of the County hall, and quite red by the time he reached the bottom! I'm sure it was the same for all the other brave people who gave their time and risked life and limb to raise money for this worthy cause. The Unity Club is a club for both disabled and able bodied people, their motto is "MAKING MORE OF LIFE TOGETHER " and to achieve this they encourage all of their members and their families and friends to enjoy a range of activities which would not normally be accessible on a daily basis. These include discos, fundraising, visits to places of interest, and guest speakers. Along with every event they also organise transportation, and venue hire... as I said, a worthy cause and worth jumping off the roof for! ![]()
