New for Old - Replacement Vs Repair

The photo below shows the state of the plastic trim and headlining before repair. You can clearly see the extent of the staining compared to the bottom picture.

The picture below shows the same area after replacement new parts were fitted.

The replacement of parts is not usually in the domain of our normal valeting services and we prefer to repair and salvage where possible. We were able to clean most of the plastic parts to a serviceable level, but were unable to remove the stains completely and much of the plastic-wear was left with a yellow tint, so we had to replace the parts. Had this been a dark coloured interior, it may have been a different story.

However, the parts required and their cost are a small part of the picture. The main problem with fire damaged cars is the smell. If the odour of burnt plastic remains, then the car is a write-off. The cost of replacement parts and our fire restoration and odour kill services are far less than the cost of a replacement car.
